LOVE YOUR LOCAL: ANYTIME PHYSIO

Tell us a bit about your business?
We are Anytime Physio and we’re in the business of helping people with pain and injuries get back to the things they love. We’re a husband and wife couple with a passion for health and wellness. While it may sound like a franchise (and it’s not), behind the scenes, it’s just the two of us (with a healthy dose of help from the team) running around making things work. Luckily, we do live in Gasworks.

What is your position and how big is your team?
Officially, we’re the Directors and Principal Physiotherapists of Anytime Physio, but we’ve also absorbed the jobs of the cleaner, the customer satisfaction managers as well as the towel fairies (the towels won’t wash themselves!). We are very lucky to have an amazing team of 14 behind us. This includes physiotherapists, remedial massage therapists and our lovely reception team.

What is the best part about your job?
The best part of my job is working with people and seeing them achieve their goals, whether it be returning to a sport, getting rid of a nagging back ache or even learning to walk again after an injury. As the owner, I get to teach and train my team to help them achieve these same great results with their clients.

What makes Gasworks Plaza a part of the community?
We have been living and working in Gasworks Plaza since 2018. Gasworks Plaza is the central hub of life in Newstead. I can’t remember the last time I walked from home to work and didn’t run into someone I knew. For me, and for most people living in Newstead, Gasworks Plaza is literally a part of daily living. From grabbing a coffee, to getting a haircut or taking the dog out for a quick walk, it’s almost impossible to imaging Newstead without Gasworks. On that note, I also can’t remember the last time I took the car out for milk and bread.

How long have you been open at Gasworks Plaza?
Technically, we’ve been in Gasworks since April 2018. I say technically because we started off in a tiny office space up in Lobby 1. The entire ‘clinic’ was in 1 room, which was about 8 square metres. All our equipment was either underneath the desk or stuck to the walls with 3M Velcro tape (the best thing ever invented). We moved into our current clinic on June 2019 and we haven’t looked back.

What do you like to do in your spare time?
Rock-climbing. I’m guilty of even building a rock-climbing wall in the clinic. Seriously. Come check it out some time.

What was your first job?
Front counter at McDonald’s, Roma Street Transit Centre. I still have nightmares of teenagers ordering small fries and a soft serve.
