Commercial Road and Doggett Street intersection upgrade

Brisbane City Council is planning to convert Doggett Street to one-way for northbound traffic, between Commercial Road and Longland Street. This is to facilitate the signalisation of the Commercial Road and Doggett Street intersection, improve safety for pedestrians and ease traffic congestion impacts.  This will also address access and safety concerns raised during consultation.

Please refer to the insert below for new layout at the Doggett Street and Longland Street intersection.

Doggett Street will be converted to one-way in late May 2020. Works at the Doggett Street and Longland Street intersection will be undertaken over two stages.

Stage 1 – works at the intersection will involve changing the traffic signal phasing and line marking.
These works will be undertaken over one night shift between 7pm and 5am, when traffic volumes are lowest and ensure safety of workers and road users. Residents in close proximity may experience low level noise and vibration and light from portable towers. Council will aim to complete any noisy works prior to 11pm, where possible. Traffic control will be on site to ensure safe access into the Gasworks carpark and for all road users at the intersection.

Stage 2 – will involve installing a pre-cast concrete island on Doggett Street with ‘no entry’ signage, and resurfacing works through the intersection. These works will be completed later this year. Council will provide further information on stage 2 prior to the start of works.
